Never Say Never
There are few things in life I really thought I would NEVER have to experience, but I have found that NEVER is a word that shouldn't ever be used! For life doesn't know the meaning of NEVER.
The dictionary describes the word NEVER - (nev-er) - adverb
1. not ever; at no time
2. not at all; absolutely not
3. To no extent or degree
It's also an - idiom
And of course there are a number of similar words that can be construed into meaning NEVER such as forget it, no way, not on your life....well you get the picture. But here I sit realizing that NEVER shouldn't ever be used pondering the things that I NEVER thought I would have to see, hear or deal with in life. The list isn't long, but each NEVER that I thought I wouldn't experience has had a deeply profound affect on my life......so to the list.

1. I NEVER thought I would get divorced, yet have - twice! I grew up dreaming of getting married, having kids and enjoying the company of one person until "Death Do Us Part".
2. Playing off that I NEVER thought I would be a single mother - but I was - again I always thought my children would be raised by two parents and not one.
3. I NEVER thought I'd face poverty, eviction notices, energy shut-offs, denials because of cash flow, but I have and survived those really hard times - even now though not to a poverty state I still feel I NEVER would have to "think about" how to be financially "creative".
4. I NEVER thought I'd have to leave a child in a pysch ward - not once but twice! I NEVER felt such pain, such unrest, such turmoil, such guilt, such failure, but we both SURVIVED.
5. I NEVER thought I'd be in a major car accident that totally changed the course of my life, physically, mentally& emotionally.
6. I NEVER thought I would lose a job over someone else's doing and then remain in the ranks of the unemployed for months on end because of my age. I NEVER thought that age would be my enemy.
7. I NEVER thought I would have to watch a loved one suffer through the hell that Cancer is.
8. I NEVER thought I would have to bail someone out of jail, deal with bondsman, lawyers and all the trappings that come with our judicial system that isn't exactly fair, kosher (not wanting to say corrupt).
9. I NEVER thought I would be in a space where there isn't one day that I don't think about losing my best friend to Cancer.
10. I NEVER thought I would be writing about how the word NEVER shouldn't ever be used.
The Past is HISTORY, the Future a MYSTERY, but Today is a GIFT - that is why it is called the PRESENT - enjoy life each day, make the most of the moment you are in and vow to remove the word NEVER from your vocabulary!
